Classic Truck Glass
Classic Truck Glass makes a one-piece side window for the 55-59 trucks. A friend gave me great reviews about it, as he used it on his truck.
I was wondering if anyone else has used it and hopefully the electric lift mechanism they sell. If you have, I'd love to see pictures of the inside of the door during and after installation, and hear your thoughts on them. Thanks.

Bought my complete glass set from Auto City as I was acquiring parts before paint. Started at doors first after paint and the PW kit from Nu-Relics was not a good fit. After discussing with them, their kit is best suited for original doors. My repop doors have enough difference that it just wouldn’t work. Switched to SPW and got them in without issue. But the one piece glass from Auto City and the templates that came with the kits were all different. We had to custom cut locally to get proper fit of the glass.
So it may be a long shot to buy a one-piece glass and expect it to fit. These cabs have seen lots of abuse over the years and the doors get worked over to fit the cabs. That skinny frame could be manipulated around to fit the surrounding sheet and metal and change the shape of the window frame. Best to get the power regulator operating and then play with 1/4” plywood and cardboard to perfect your shape. You can then have a glass shop match it. Or, buy the glass with a return policy just in case and make a plywood template from that glass for starters to see if it will work to your satisfaction. |

I'm assuming that you are working on the 54 with 50 doors. The aftermarket glass is cut to fit the steel frames that go around the glass on 47/50 door windows and if you plan to run frameless you have to have that cut to fit locally and then get the correct Door glass channel for frameless glass that is the correct width for the door and guides and correct width for the glass as the channel they sell for 47/50 trucks is only for the glass with frames.
If you are going frameless I highly suggest having tempered glass made for it. I've got to do that on mine and will be hauling it 180 miles to the glass shop that can do it in Vancouver WA.

I am asking for the 55 Cameo.
I did the one piece in the 48, they were cut to fit here in town, and they are ok. I stopped on the 54 until I get the Cameo done. Although, I was just trying out some All Metal on some spots where I had welded on the cab before I got the Cameo.

I used the Nu-Relics kit on my 56 Panel. I have not cut the glass yet but did use their metal glass template to cut plywood test pieces and it works fine. I will add, I had an older Brothers one-piece kit I was going to use on my 56 Cameo and trying their glass wouldn't come close to working with the Nu-Relics kit.
I hinged the door piece that needs to be cut out to get the mechanism in place and will cover it when I do upholstery so its hidden. I decided I did not want to cut the doors on my Cameo so I will probably try a manual one-piece on it. Nu-Relics does not have a manual kit. I have no experience with any other kits. I was going to attach a ".mp4" file to show how well the kit works but apparently I can't do that. Is it possible? -Bob Last edited by BBPanel; 07-29-2024 at 09:58 AM. |

Thanks Bob. I really don't want to cut the door on my Cameo either.
I talked to CTW about their electric kit, but the answer I got was not what I had hoped for. So, I'm going to keep trying.
