Need pic of a stock split rim

Can someone post a pic of a stock split rim? I need to determine if the wheels on my 67 are split or not. Need help identifying the lock ring.

Thanks!

Scott

Re: Need pic of a stock split rim

Here's a pic of the stock 16" split rim that was originally on my 69 K20.

Re: Need pic of a stock split rim

Scott, on the photo from Yukon Jack look at the gray lock ring at the 11:00 position. You will see that it is cut,(or split). This allows the ring to be removed from the wheel. When the tire is inflated the air pressure will press this ring against the edge of the rim, thus creating a ridge or shoulder for the bead of the tire to press against. If the lock ring is not properly seated on the lip of the rim it can come loose and fly off with tremendous force.

Re: Need pic of a stock split rim

Thanks to all. Looks like I do not have the split rims after all.

Re: Need pic of a stock split rim

to add to rwgregory's post... when the ring flys off, it'll kill anything in it's way. I've seen them fly off of the old duce & a half trucks in the army and land far enough that you wonder where the h*ll it came from.
