nuts and bolts

i know this is a long shot but i was wondering if there is a list of all (or most) of the nut and bolt sizes for a 66 fleetside somewhere? basically the sheet metal, bed wood, strips, hinges, fenders, wheel tubs, etc. i have the assembly manual but it doesnt say specific sizes...
i found that i can order stainless hardware from McMaster Carr in bulk and its alot cheaper than ordering the individual kits online... and the local hardware store dont always have all the sizes i need.
i know its kind of a long shot but any help would be great!!

Re: nuts and bolts

I know this only goes a short way to answer your question but I just took off the complete bed and suspension (rear) of my truck and replaced some with stainless and there are number of different size with the most common being used to mount body panels I would say. But to give you an example, the shocks mount with different bolts then sway bar, which is different from the coil mounts which are different from the trailing arm mounts etc. So I ended up buying a lot in quantity of 2 and 4, so not much for bulk pricing . Also some of the running gear hardware, trailing arm bolts for example I replaced with grade 8 since that is stronger then SS. Anyways my 2cents hope it helps.

Re: nuts and bolts

thanks for the reply... when i rebuilt the chasis and suspension i replaced everything with grade 8 as well but when it comes to bolts that are visible like the carriage bolts in the bed and some of the fender bolts and what not i would like stainless hardware. maybe we could start a list of hardware sizes and quantities if anyone is willing to participate? just a thought!

Re: nuts and bolts

Not sure if that has been tried before, but if not it sounds like a good idea. I think I still have all the specs for the bolts I am replacing so maybe we can either make a sticky or start some sort of spreadsheet

Re: nuts and bolts

Thanks! I will send you what I have when I get a chance. I know of it is going to vary depending on the year of the truck and options etc.

I used this guy recently for the cab hardware...very reasonable and willing to do a group purchase at reduced rates. I will try to inventory the hardware for the cab before I start bolting it on.

Re: nuts and bolts

OK here are so of the bolt sizes. Unfortunately had already thrown away some of the bags they came in.
Track arm: 3/4" dont know the length (2 needed)
Coil Spring Top Mount: 1/2-13 X 2" (2 needed)
Coil Spring Bottom Mount 1/2-13 X 4" (no nut needed) (2 needed)
Shock Mounts: 1/2-13 X 2 1/2" (4 needed)
I also included locking washers and washers in most of these plus I used locking nuts on them as well

For the trailing arms I used grade 8 which I beleive where 9/16"

Anyways hopes any of this helps. If anyone has any interest I could go back and look through my receipts and empty bags to get the rest of the size, let me know

Re: nuts and bolts

I have the Totally Stainless Kit at the shop which has the specific parts numbers circled on the card. If I can find the specified list and description I'll let you know.
