burned 67

I found this picture while searching the web for pictures of the Rim Fire damage. For those not familiar with the Rim Fire, it is the 3rd largest fire in California history that burned a large portion of the Stanislaus National Forest in Tuolumne County. I helped with evacuations when the fire jumped containment lines on the 3rd day and it burned several homes where I was at. Trucks can be replaced, thankfully no people were hurt. The second picture is when I drove up to the fire to help evacuate.

Re: burned 67

Looks like it was pretty clean and straight before the fire. Sad.

Re: burned 67

You can't use sheetmetal that has been in a fire.

Re: burned 67

Actually dosent look that bad. fire may have been so fast moving it did not burn that bad. the steering wheel still intact is a good sign still has white paint on the bumper and grill trim. Might be restorable.

Re: burned 67

"Ya, I got my hood off a truck that was in a neighborhood-wide fire."

That would be rather interesting.

Re: burned 67

What kind of temperature regime would blow out the Windshield, rear window and door glass?

After steel goes through a fire, it generally warps all to hell and becomes brittle. It will also rust more easily due to crystalline structure changes on the surface.
