Auto to Manual

Hey guys,

I've found a lot in trans. swap info. here. But most of what I find seems to be that members swap a manual 3 or 4 speed to a 5 speed. It seems these trucks already have the manual trans. (high hump) so there is no real problem with the fit. But, I would like to swap a th350 (low hump) to a 5 speed.

Is there a lot of carving to do on the hump or firewall to get a manual trans. to fit?

What types of trans. do you guys use?

How did you finess the shifter location so that it is a good fit on the hump (the shifter doesn't hit or get in the way of anything?)

What type of clutch pedal assembly did you use? I'm thinking of fitting a late 60' Camaro or Chevelle assembly in my truck; good idea or not?

Just trying to size up my options for a future swap. Trying to save $2,500-$3,000 for this job.

Thanks,

James
