Chasing the Drive Line Gremlin

Still chasing a vibration in the drive line. I have changed out the center carrier, improved not solved.

It revisiting the problem, there is a couple of areas that might be problematic. First the tail shaft on the transmission has quite a bit of play in it. Is this natural? Second, the rear u-joint as it bolts to the rear end has about 1/8" side play in the area between the u-joint caps and the tabs on the rear end. This seems to me that if installed favoring one side that this would create some vibration. Is this correct? The rear u-joint appears to fit correctly in the drive shaft. It was suggested in an earlier post to have the shaft balanced which I will do once I have eliminated other problems.

Comments?

Jim
