56 3100 4X4 build

I'm installing a 700R4 trans in my 56 3100. Do I need to remove the cross-member at the bell housing or can I just notch it for clearance? I am adding
a cross-member at the rear of the trans.

i would...no need for it...and it may cause interference with your 4x conversion...
