Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

Getting this buddy bucket seat tomorrow. Unfortuanetly its a dodge seat, but Im wondering if anyone has made one work in a chevy, and although the seat upholstery is obviously different, is the foam size/dimensions different as well? Looks like the upper side's of the foam would have to be trimmed. I was hoping to use some new chevy covers for my 68 if its swapable? If not, I guess I'll just sell it, and continue the search

Any help appreciated

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

Might try a teaser ad on CL for them. At one time they were highly sought after for Little Red Express upgrades. In fact I'd key word it for LRE. They would look great in my D500 too, but money and distance are not going to let that happen.

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

Don't know where there are now. But I think Buddy Buckets are absurdly overpriced for a glorified bench seat. Many manufacturers offered them and still do.

Great Lakes has a chewed up set P.O.R.

dante's gets about $700.00 for a set of covers

What do you mean overpriced? I only paid $2000 for mine...

...but the previous owner was nice enough to give me a swb 68' c10 with it, so i think it was a good deal

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

As stated the only difference is the frame....and it will fit with some modification. They are a lot more comfortable than a bench seat...because they are bucket seats...and they have the center console for a third seat if needed. A local upholstery shop completely restored mine to show quality for $500. They are pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

Found mine at a swap meet. They looked just like the set you're getting. Paid $100.00 . Had them recovered for $300.00 . Now they're GMC seats. Had to make an end plate so they'd bolt to the floor. Dodge frame will not work.

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

The PO put a 40-20-40 seat out of a '00 Dodge Dakota in my Blazer and installed a set of stretch on covers from wetokole.com . OBVIOUSLY they don't look original, but they have manual lumbar and back adj. and are REALLY comfortable. When I fold the console up it kinda closes off the bed area behind the seats if I park it somewhere. It looks yellow in the 2 shop pics but it's OCHRE and the panels in the seats match pretty well. I have the original black buckets that need re-covering and console and I'm thinking about re-covering them in original looking black and white houndstooth which was an option on '67-'72 trucks. I'd REALLY like to know how it's gonna look and sit BEFORE I spend the money.. any opinions?

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

If I could find any 67-72 chevy/gmc buddy buckets or like what you have I would use it for my 67 c10. It doesnt have to be the exact year of my truck. I really dig your dodge seats. In my opinion you got cool seats.

Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

You got a good deal. GM did not make these, an outside vendor did, so there would be no GM part number stamped into the frame or foam. The frame has the correct "bends" on the front bar, like Chevy frames....but I do not see the center support. Pop them in your truck and see! If they bolt in to the bench seat holes, it is a Chevy frame. The seats are reversed...the driver adjustment lever also looks like the correct Chevy one.

Thanks, great news
Now, who has the best price on seat upholstery for a 68? The spid shows it having z61 & z62, does that make a difference? It has a blue interior

Question Re: Dodge Buddy Bucket Seat

The Z61 means it has or had a "Custom Appearance Package".
And the Z62 means it has or had a "Custom Comfort And Convenience Package".

Not sure what they are, but IIRC it has something to do with trim on vehicle, and luxury interior?

That would be correct from all I've read, and seen on the actual truck. Just wondering if the seat material has a different pattern with that option? Most of the pictures of original buddy buckets are shown in all vinyl. Were they offered any other way?

I was thinking the same thing, but the 66' seat has a taller middle seat (see photo), but there's only one way to find out.....
