Re: New to board sb 63

Where I found the truck, took me 6 months to buy the truck. All the persistence paid off. Original owner , only mod was a 327 put back in the 60s.
Front fenders , inner fenders and the wrong tail gate was the first to correct.

Re: New to board sb 63

Build goal, modify frame for motor and trans, mild update for suspension. Disc brakes , hydro boost . Plan to keep outside patina, replace molding grill and bumpers, and other parts with as much oem parts.
Drivers door was caved in beyond repair. Found a parts truck matching drivers door, custom badges, chevy tail gate and a bunch of little pieces, and pass it on for someone else to use.
Great history with the truck long time ranch family member bought it new while going to college, dropped the 327 in back in 66 . He let his dad have it till he passed. Sat in a barn from 84 till I showed interest.

Welcome to the forum

Looks like you found a nice solid truck to build and sounds like you have a good plan.

Is that a JD2 tubing bender I see?

Yes, the 63 is my second hobby. This is an old photo during the buggy build, four link front and rear and my second lsx swap

Re: New to board sb 63

the old drivers door have to gut the good parts from it, inner fenders from the parts truck just need to strip down the core support and send them off to powder coat.

The mangle door. I'm not a sheet metal guy so finding good sheet metal is the path for me. I've seen a lot of great sheet metal work on this forum it is a art in itself.

Drivers door is close , just scuffing the black primer off. The only blue part on the parts truck was what I wanted most to find

Out with the old greasy 327. The motor ran surprisingly well. Gave it to a buddy for future BBW sheet metal panel install, still tring to find.

Re: New to board sb 63

Started at 14 with my dads 54 chevy truck, and I was hooked ever since. Owned many classic truck . But this will be my first truck build. If it goes good the 53 May go under the knife next, for now it runs and drives. Thank goodness for a great wife who understands the bug.

Found this gem in my travels. With this truck I can match up the tail gate and front t fenders.
Then off to its new home.

Re: New to board sb 63

Had great progress today. Pulled cab, finished blasting frame Rails.
Blasted new inner fenders. Primered everything and painted.
