Broken Shock Mount help
Need help or ideas the front passenger side shock mount on my truck is broken, a previous owner crudely repaired it by welding a washer and the stud to the outside of the frame but the angle of the stud is way off. Im in the process of cleaning up my frame to paint it and I would like to fix it while the frame is stripped down but I don't have a welder. Has anyone fixed this problem without using a welder??

Re: Broken Shock Mount help
A pic would help. Maybe add a front shock brace like this. They're available from most of the vendors, Brother's, LMC, CPP, etc.

Re: Broken Shock Mount help
Had the same problem. I cleaned up the welding and used the lmc support bracket $20 to make it strong.
After paint you will never know.

Re: Broken Shock Mount help
That's not nearly as bad as I had imagined it would be. I wouldn't have a problem with running it and a shock brace after cleaning up the weld some. 5 minutes with a 4.5" flapper wheel would make all the difference.

Re: Broken Shock Mount help
Just make sure that your shocks are not bottoming out before the bump stop is being engaged. No amount of reinforcement of the mounts will prevent damage if the mount is getting hammered with by a fully compressed shock. Not saying this is your problem. But its always good to check.

Re: Broken Shock Mount help
How distorted is the rubber bushing in the shock when installed?
