"Now what's wrong with it?"

I have a neighbor who said that to me this morning. He seems to believe he has to say that to me whenever he sees me working on my truck. I am ready to shoot that guy. (Not really y'know "shoot" him, but maybe just kick him.) Kick him hard.

"Now what's wrong with it?"

Nothing's "wrong" with it, you dolt, besides the fact that it's 40 years old, and in order for it to live another 40 years, it requires maintenance. Maintenance, like changing the oil, greasing the joints and maybe replacing a tie rod or u-joint every once in a while.

"Now what's wrong with it?"

Oh yeah??? What about you, eh? Mr. Toyota-Hybrid-thing-ain't-gonna-last-ten-years-before-it's-in-the-junkyard-guy??? Eh????? Now what's wrong with it? Why are the men in blue coveralls towing your shiny little coke can off to the scrapyard? Why can't you fix it yourself, eh? Now what's wrong with it???

Aiyoh. That guy.

I wish he'd come up with a new line. Something like, "Good morning," or "How ya doin'?"

I hope he buys an old Chevy truck someday, so he can come on this forum and read this post.

That'll show him.

Just ask him if he's enjoying making his car payments as much as your are working on your old Chevy.

Funny, my 69 is not going to need a $3500.00 battery pack replacement anytime soon.

Re: "Now what's wrong with it?"

I'm thankful for my neighbors...I found two of them snooping on my truck before we moved in. One is building a beautiful '59, another owns a big deal hot rod shop and the rest just seem to like it. There are a couple of prius driving folks on the block but they're outnumbered

And I was worried because I got an anal probe about my vehicles by a "committee" before we moved in.

Re: "Now what's wrong with it?"

"Now whats wrong?" says annoying neighbor.

"Nothing's really wrong, just cleaning dust off the engine and tweaking a few things here and there. I enjoy it. Some people like to garden, others playing on the computer and some just like to watch t.v. Me, I just like messing with these old trucks. Don't you have any hobbies? No? What do you do in the house all day? These old trucks are fun to mess with. I like to check and change the oil, grease it, clean, wash, wax it, check the pressure and air up the tires, run it for a few minutes every so often, check the water. Come over here let me show you what the engine looks like. See, this part, it... (on and on etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera....)"

You get the picture. Bet he don't ask again.

btw: that's what I did when my brother used to say "working on it again?"

Re: "Now what's wrong with it?"

I work on my truck.I like doing something I can see/enjoy the results of.I don't understand guys who walk around a cowpaster hitting little white balls into gopher holes.I do understand that it amounts to the same thing. It's a hobby and enjoyable pasttime. What I really don't understand is that those guys don't understand that it is the same thing....

Cool Re: "Now what's wrong with it?"

I'm glad my neighbor's are far enough away that we say hello to each other and speak every now and then when we are walking. They have never been in my garage and me in there's! I like it that way. Even my yanky neighbor is OK I talk to him more than any of the others.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

My neighbors are cool... they don't quite 'get it'... but they are cool with it and are semi-interested.

Re: "Now what's wrong with it?"

He's a nice enough dude; just clueless. And... I suppose I can admit to maybe being a little 'sensitive' about my truck. He has no idea how rude that question is.

It's like if I said to him, "Hey neighbor - is your wife still ugly? Kids still fat?"

No hard feelings - right!?

OMG...You should say that to him, after the 15th time of him saying that to me.

Next time he asks that, just say.....................
"Is There A Right Way To Answer That Question"?

He'll then start tripping over his Tounge,
trying to make excuses, and that should be the last time that he either:

1) Asks you that question

OR

2)Quits talking to you....PERIOD.

(You see...its a Win-Win Situation for you anyway you look at it)!
