Trying to get my cab from Walpole, MA to Jonesville, NC. If anyone is going that way, or close enough that you could help, please drop me a note. Or if you've got contacts in the shipping business where I might be able to afford to ship it...

Have you contacted a shipping co.?I I had a truck shipped from Georgia to Missouri for $550.00.They picked it up and took it to my house.If you are interested I can probobly come up with the name of the place.

If you've got names and numbers that would be great! I've contacted _4_ shipping companies that I just picked out of a hat... not one of them have bothered to call me back to quote the job. Apparently they have more business than they need

I can not find the paperwork with the names and numbers,but I think it was the Jones motor co.out of Fla. that did it ,and they contracted it out to Hot Shot Express.Ask any Auto Dealer who they use to transport cars,I got this shippind co. from my brother in law who buys and sells vehicles at a dealer. Hope this helps

Why don't you just rent a U_HAUL or RYDER truck and take a weekend road trip. wouldn't be that hard to load ((a engine hoist and some straps)) and cheaper than any hauling service. Plus a pease of mind knowing it got there safe and undamaged. I used one once to haul a fleetside bed it works. some times you Gotta do what you Gotta do. just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion... but if that were a possibility for me, I'd have already done it. My wife works weekends, which puts me on mini-me duty, and I work... well... apparently I work all the time

And, I don't have anything that I could hook a trailer up to and tow it with. So... again, thanks for the suggestion. The search continues.

[BTW, I'm not trying to be a cheapskate. I'd actually be willing to pay something for having it hauled, but as crews pointed out, there's not a lot of people making money hauling... which probably explains why I can't get any shipping companies to even return my calls

XXL here's another suggestion do it yourself... I'm not sure what your plans are with the cab, but what ever it is I think you should take matters into your own hands. I've seen the picks on your site and it looks like you have the skill maybe just not the time. Practice makes one better not perfect. find a rusted out cab and cut,chop.weld beat and bang till you know you can do it. Take it from someone who had never chopped a top, but wanted one and couldn't afford to pay thousands of $$$$ to have it done. So you know what came next.....and it turned out fine.
Just do a lot of planning before you start. measure not once not twice but till it's right and DO THE DAM THANG!!!! sorry to rattle on but it looks like your not having much luck getting it shipped. So in the mean time you can practice your skills on the rusted out cab. Maybe by the time you get a ride, you want need one. Later ClassiC/10

Your point is well taken... but 1) you have more confidence in me than I do. Thank you!, and 2) you're right, I just don't have time. Woohoo! Cab just pulled out of the driveway, and yes, it does fit in the back of a Ford Ranger bed

Thanks very much to old Rusty C10 for coming up here with his son to help me load it, and for hauling it down to NC. Bob's the first person I've actually met in person from the board... great guy he is!
