454 to be or not to be??? For my son

Alright guys I havnt started a build thread yet but like my name says my son is pretty lucky. He is 15 and We picked him up a 1965 chevy c10 sitting on 3/4 running gear and 37" tires. I will get into that more when I start the build thread real soon. But I need some help before I get to that.......

The truck came with a 454 and I'm not sure what to do. I can freshen the 454 up a lot cheaper than I could pick up a crate 350 for. The big problem is the cost of gas for a teenager to be running around in a truck with a 454. So would he be getting that much better gas with the 350 than the 454 or would the 454 be fine with a 2b carb?
