Ford Steelies for '69 Chevy C20?

Not what I prefer, but would they work? My thanks in advance.

Those wheels have a metric bolt pattern and from what I know will not work. I could be wrong.

Re: Ford Steelies for '69 Chevy C20?

I'm running ford steelies on mine. They are 8 lug Accuride. They are a different style, but I don't see why those wouldn't work. Have you tried bolting one on yet to see?

The earlier Ford wheels are the same bolt pattern and will accept hubcaps, I am pretty certain the wheel pictured is late model and the bolt pattern is slightly different. Some time in the late '90's Ford went to a metric bolt pattern and those wheels don't interchange with other trucks.

I removed my wheels from what looked like a late 90's ford truck

Re: Ford Steelies for '69 Chevy C20?

I read a post under 'Questions about steelies' where member Special-K says it has to have stamped 'Accuride' on the rim next to the size to be SAE. But that was for the style rim I like, possibly an older style from Ford. Wonder if the 4.5 back spacing is happening with these, too. Looked at many pics that members have posted and I've not seen these on any yet. Maybe there's a reason.

That thread was started by me. If you look on page 1, you'll see the era truck I removed the wheels from. At the end of the day, special K knows way more about this than I do, but I did recently go through this and can help where possible

Yes. Those are preferred. That's what I have too, but won't the ones he's got work?

Those won't work. That's an 8 x 170mm bolt pattern.
You need an 8 x 6.5" bolt pattern like what Musicman70 showed in Post #8.

Re: Ford Steelies for '69 Chevy C20?

From what I understand, the Van wheels stayed SAE. BUT...at some point they stopped using hubcaps and we3nt with only wheelcovers. Once they did that the wheels changed and no longer have the "nubs". I've wondered about those styled Ford truck wheels before, but figured they went into us when the '96 Super Duty design came out, which is when the old-style wheels went metric. It is odd that those are Accurides. I guess Accuride started supplying styled steel wheels when Ford went metric and someone else started supplying the old-style wheels.

What is a good and easy to find alternative for split 6 lug steelies with nubs for caps?

Split 6 lug steelies? I've never seen 6 lug split wheels.

2pc is another name for split rim...or visa-versa. I'm still not sure what you need to know, though. What are you looking to do? There are endless 6-lug wheel choices available.

Just an alternative for finding era correct steelies. So something newer, 6 lug, hub cap nubs and easy to find

Re: Ford Steelies for '69 Chevy C20?

They were used on 4wd 1/2t pickups,Suburbans,& K/5s through '91. My '85 Jimmy had them on it before I put 8-lug axles under it.

Original poster, those are metric pattern Ford wheels. They won't work on your truck.

I believe you're gonna find that your original wheels are one piece. I've never seen a two piece 6 lug wheel on one of these trucks. If you could post a picture, we could tell for sure.

Maybe I'm thinking of earlier.. My truck came with ralleys on it, I'm trying to replace those with steelies and hub caps.

Re: Ford Steelies for '69 Chevy C20?

Dakattack....

If you're still running drum brakes in the front, you can use a set of stock truck wheels which should be very easy to find. Pretty much any 6 lug guy that converts to disc brakes is gonna have some up for grabs cheap. It's a shame you're not close by, I throw a lot of them away when I build trucks, or do something like build grinder stands out of them.
