Random Restoration Questions

1972 Flint built CST Blazer.

Did they have a radiator overflow bottle and/or hose and if so how did it route/where did it mount?

Did they come with footwell lighting or just the interior lights located in the upper part of the single wall top?

Any door jam key buzzer switches or interior light on triggers?

Did the underside of the hood have any type of coating or bare metal and was it painted black or body color or how did it come from the factory?

Power brake booster was it black or anodized gold or something else or did it vary?

Did any of these trucks come with factory floor mats/carpet savers and if so what did they look like?

Yes, 1972 was an option. Will be listed on SPID, but dealer installed also. Bottle mounted on the drivers side inboard radiator support

Did they come with footwell lighting or just the interior lights located in the upper part of the single wall top?

Footwell lighting is for double wall tops. Single wall had the lighting in the drivers side of the interior roof

No buzzers

Did the underside of the hood have any type of coating or bare metal and was it painted black or body color or how did it come from the factory?

Black with body color misted around the perimeter

Power brake booster was it black or anodized gold or something else or did it vary?

Depends on the booster supplier. Delco Moraine was anodized. Bendix was black painted

Dealer installed

Thanks very informative. Any pics of an original hood underside? If it didn't have an overflow bottle would it have had a hose running straight down from the nipple on the radiator cap opening?

If the Blazer did not have the overflow bottle, the hose would come off the radiator, and go straight down through a pre-punched hole the RH inner fender skirt. There is also a clip on the battery tray gusset to hold the hose.

Re: Random Restoration Questions

I believe the OE black color on the undersurface of the hood is the bare EDP coat not paint

Re: Random Restoration Questions

Most reproduction radiator overflow hoses appear to come with a couple of spring clips and the hose. What did the original setup look like the one that runs down by the battery and through the opening in the passenger side fender well? Who makes a good reproduction or just go to auto parts store and get some tubing then to the hardware store for the clips?

Is there a paint that is close to what EDP coat looks like? Maybe a satin or Hot Rod Black?

Still would like to see a picture of a nice preserved original hood underside if anyone has a pic they can share. Or even a correctly restored one to how it came from the factory.

Satin black, like Eastwood's Under hood black would be the closest sheen.

That is interesting and almost looks like the black was dusted over the color even though it's likely the other way around.
