rear fuel tank plumbing

I'm currently finishing up my 72 c-10 rolling chassis,I have seen and heard of several different ways to plumb a rear fuel tank conv.Reacently i saw one that ran the filler neck thru the stake pocket with a custom pop up fuel cap. Can anyone help me with this. I would like to see some pictures of your work if possiable. Thanks Bob wpb fla.

My friend is using this venting system with one filter on his Cobra and says that I filled them to much. So next time I go fill up I'm going to dump some first. If that doesn't work I'm going to go look at the newer trucks to see how they are ran.

Truck is now finished to the new owners design and running around.
I was shown some pictures of the finished product. At least it survived the junk yard.

Re: rear fuel tank plumbing

hey cameeks, is there any issue using copper as a fuel fill? I don't think so as I've seen small copper used up front to feed the carb.

I was thinking about using copper too, but after talking to a few local rodders I ended up buying marine fuel filler hose... mainly because it has integral steel wires and bends pretty well without kinks.

either way, look good, I like the door. you could prolly just put a small spring latch on it to hold it closed..

Kuddo's! That looks sweet. Nice Job! Where does the vent connect to the tank?

It is the blue hose It runs up to the reverse light in the side of the bed then back down to the bottom of the stake pocket. You can see them in one of the pictures. I ran it that way so the vent would be above the fuel fill and I would still be able to get to it to change the charcoal. Still going to change that up later. I can put the filler handle on the 2nd latch without it burping back.

I was going to go to a muffler shop and have some pipe bent like some of the others have done but they told me that they would rust and get into the tank and running the filler where I have it a hose will not be able to make those bends.

Re: rear fuel tank plumbing

Oh, there it is! Must have been distracted checking out the filler pipe. I seen the other hoses, tee, and filters and it looked like it all looped back to the neck....
On a lighter note, faster filling might not be the issue it once was. Around here anyways it seems the pumps run slower the higher the price goes.
