What help do you want? Looks ready for paint to me. ;-)

Not going to be a fun repair...have you looked to see how bad it is underneath?

Re: Duct Tape

My PO use electrical tape to cover up some of the rust on the bed... mainly there to hold the paint on.

I'll get some pics.

Re: Duct Tape

Ok so there is no confusion I added the duct tape to cover the hole. I figured it looked better than a rusted hole in the roof. Now I just need to figure out which way im going to go.

Re: Duct Tape

Yeah! Duct tape is cheap, and even available in several color options these days. Just go to your local dirt track shop and pick a hue that suits ya. Tape it over again and it'll last ya another summer. If ya really want to spiff it up, get ya some 3" wide foil tape, and do the whole top of the cab. It'll last longer than duct tape!

The only problem with the new roof idea, im going to have to cut off the roof at the pillars, brace the cab to replace the roof. So why is patching the roof not a good idea?

Step up man! Ditch the duct tape and fix it right! Use FURNACE tape! It is already shinny!

I saw a late 80's Caddy in town this week. The entire chrome rear bumper was "fixed" by the careful application of furnace tape. You could hardly notice. At least my friend couldn't, but then, he is legally blind.

Re: Duct Tape

You know they have colored duct tape now? There is a color that is pretty close to that paint color. AND it's a lot cheaper than buying a newer cab.

Re: Duct Tape

mine was like that on the underside of the driprail areas...had a nice coat of skim and primer too

I am grafting in a new patch section onto mine. Depends what the underskin looks like, you may try to find someone cutting one up and replacing that section.

You guys are killing me with the jokes, I love it.
On the real I think patching the hole will work for me right now. Im not trying to win the truck show award, I just want it neat and clean right now.

Yeah I know, just think, this was done in the early 80's when my uncle (the original owner) still owned the truck. Bodywork back then was very shakey.
