72 C10

I am new to the site and have some questions. I just bought a 72 C10 and plan on redoing it. I want to lower the front 2" and the rear 3" or 4". Is it better to to use drop springs or spindles? What is the largest rim and tire combo that will fit in the fender and box wheel wells with this amount of drop? Did 350's have short or long water pumps from the factory? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a Camaro guy and know them inside and out. This is my first truck resto. Thanks for the help!

Re: 72 C10

Welcome from Southeast Missouri.

I am not into dropping vehicles so hopefully some one else will reply and give the info.

I am not sure when engines went to long water pumps, my '71 has a short water pump. I think it was in the mid '70's though. I can not think of an advantage or disadvantage to either.

Re: 72 C10

welcome to the board tons of info believe me and a great group of guys/gals....

as for your ?'s....

springs are o.k. to use, but IMO a spindle is better...i bet you can get away with a 22" rim and a tire with decent rubber??? you could defiently get away with a 20" rim and a greater amount of tire (some one will chime in i'm sure or use the search engine)....i also think they came with short water pump, like what was said above there is no advantage over short or long, i just replace what is on there to maybe still use the same hose's.....

lets see some pics of the new toy
