Historic Motorsports "lots-o-pics"

Sorry, no truck pics in this thread, all vintage race cars - which I think all of us here can appreciate so enjoy the pics. Taken at Infineon raceway on a day that was sadly pretty much rained out for racing.

Okay, the Javelin Trans-Am racer is pretty sweet, but I wouldn't mind a lap around the track in that Porsche 910.

Very cool pics.
I used to go out to the old Riverside International Raceway and see NASCAR and the Mclarens run.

Thank you very much for sharing.I love Trans Am,Can Am,old F1 cars and pretty much all types of old race cars.I like the shots with the bonnet off of the McLaren. They usually had BB's in them but I bet that was one mean small block.A lot of these cars are hand made/fabricated and are works of art.The attention to detail and ingenious engineering that goes into these machines has always fascinated me.You can get some great ideas by looking closely at these cars.Again, thanks for sharing

I agree with you Flint. The engineering in some of those cars is remarkable. Back in that era we (NZ) had three guys (Hulme, Amon, and McLaren) taking Europe and the US by storm. I remember seeing a programe on them and they were going into Europe and building their own cars, then racing them. What a great era to be involved in racing!

Thanks for the pictures Southcity. Amazing what you guys have over there.

Very nice. It would be fun to drive a few (or all) of those around the track.

Re: Historic Motorsports "lots-o-pics"

Awesome.

I am off on a 8000km round trip this week to see the Touring Car Masters race in Darwin. All the old muscle cars doing what they were designed to do - not sit in a shed.
