Did our trucks come with pads between bed and frame?

I took the bed off my truck and there was nothing between the bed and frame.

I see where pads are available at Classic Chevy Truck Parts.

Were they installed from the factory?

Thanks

The answer is no in case someone else is (or does) research this matter.

Yes, my bad, I should have explained. The Step side beds have the pads, not the fleet sides. The ones you see for sale are for stepsides and are 1/4" thick and would throw your bodylines off bad.

I am going to cut some pads about 1/16" thick out of some material. I think it will help in absorbing sounds.

Re: Did our trucks come with pads between bed and frame?

In my case, I installed some dense 1/4" thick pads at the rear of the frame rails and use about 3/4" thick rubber snubbers at the front of the frame rails because I have a dump bed conversion and the bed bounces around when driving and makes a lot of noise. The trim lines on the side of the bed does not line up the the corresponding line on the doors and front fenders, so I am leaving all of the trim off to lessen the visual impact.

"No" is correct, based on the 900,000 or so pickup boxes I installed on the assembly line in Flint.

Help in absorbing what kind of sounds?

Anything is better than metal to metal. Took a drive with the bed off and the cab was much quieter, may or may not help but, I am going to try it.

I ran 1/8" thick rubber washers between my bed and frame on my 73 fleetside, the local Ace Hardware has them in all shapes and sizes.

Re: Did our trucks come with pads between bed and frame?

Get a washer that is as wide as the frame...so you have more coverage for movement
