Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
Curious if anyone has used or recommends a known source that understands/knows/specializes in rebuilding the vent window assemblies for the early C10 trucks?
I know there are threads w/"how to" re-work the vent window assemblies but I wanted to vet out other options before making a final decision on my direction. Some services I've seen over the years of NET browsing basically take care of all the tasks (sandblasting, paint/PC-ing the frames, glass run channel setting glass procurement/installation, latch assembly rebuilds, etc....). Just curious of what options others might have used & if they were happy w/the results?

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
I used Jerry Kassis/Dr J's Restoration Rx <drjsrestorx@comcast.net>
Jerry Kassis at Dr J's Restoration Rx did mine. drjsrestorx@comcast.net Jerry did mine and I was pleased with the results. Specifically the turn around time. He has the re-chromed parts in stock so I didn't have to wait for the chrome plating, which takes forever now days. Jerry can also do Black for less money, if that's what you need. Cheers |

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
I am currently rebuilding both of my vent windows. This is the first time I've tried, and it is working out really well. I bought new glass, all new rubber including all of the rivets, screws, and hardware needed for the job. I blasted all of the big parts, epoxied, and painted 2k satin black. I will probably be done tomorrow. This has been a good learning project and I would recommend giving it a try. Now mind you, I am retired and have plenty of time to mess around. I;m also cheap, those rebuilt vents are too expensive for me. I know I've got only about 50 bucks for each one.

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
I know Precision used to do them, but not sure if they still are.
RogerKoop on here does them for the 67-72s for sure, but I think he can also do our years as well. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=576998 I did mine myself. Wasn't terrible, but I'll probably re do the paint part of things once I paint the rest of the truck

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
I just painted mine 2k hot rod black I'm just letting the paint cure for a while and then final assembly of putting the large rubber seal in and riveting the assemble together. I will then install the glass and frame with the spring assembly and rivet the hinge. I decided to use new handles, so I'll get them ordered.

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
There's a forum member who refurbishes them like new. He black powder coats or chromes the metal. I got one and was very pleased. He's usually on the 67-72 forum. User name is RogerKoop. Great to deal with.

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
I did mine about 8 years ago. Turned out fine but I was terribly disappointed that the lower outer edge of the seal did not meet the door. Big gap there that will let water in. I stuffed more rubber in there to seal the gap but I’m still mad at these cheap repop parts.
Steele and Precision both claim their rubber seals fit correctly. I have not verified that.

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
I had 2 stitches in my upper lip from trying to set the rivets and having channel slip. Would have been cheaper to pay someone to do it lol.

To update.... They're in transit to drjsrestorx@comcast.net.
Excellent communication thus far so I feel the results will follow suit. I'll update again when there's update worthy info.

Re: Vent Window Assembly Rebuilder?
Currently doing this. I ended up sanding and spraying my frames satin black. So far, the rivets that hold the flat piece in place are way too small and you need a washer in the back to get them to fit properly. I ended up using regular rivets and a washer. Before I riveted them in, I ran a strip of weatherstrip adhesive and let them sit overnight. Also, just like LugNuts stated earlier, the outer seal does not sit flush with the door. I'm using the Precision kit. The name is a little deceptive. Everything else is great. Runs channels, felts are all nice and fit perfect. Even the rear glass seal was spot on (did a BBW conversion). I went with Honda Civic door seals as I didn't want to deal with glue and like how the Honda seals pinched the metal and stayed in place.
