69 Dump PTO controls mounting??
Yesterday I purchased a flatbed dump assembly for my 69 1-ton. It came with everything needed including the PTO drive for my SM465.
My question is: is there anyone who has installed a similar unit? I really don't want to cut a hole in my floor and mount the control unit. I think I need to mount the PTO engagement inside the truck, but was hoping to mount the dump controls outside. I'd love to hear how someone has installed the PTO engagement inside the truck without too much chopping. Open to all Thoughts, Comments, Questions and Pictures! Thanks!

Re: 69 Dump PTO controls mounting??
My tow truck`s control is up through the trans hump. With enough cable it could be mounted under the dash with a bracket.I wouldn`t worry about a little hole for a cable. It`s a 1t dump truck, what would anyone expect?.Even an accurately restored truck would have the PTO mounted inside. If you want to keep an unmolested trans hump perfect, get another that already has a mounting hole or two and swap it.Save the perfect one.

Re: 69 Dump PTO controls mounting??
Sorry for the misplacement of this post...still fairly new at this even though I have been lurking for years! :-)
I think I found an alternative. I found several styles of PTO cables. These are the push/pull style cables that I can mount in or under the dash. As far as the pump control, I think I will rig the linkage so I can operate it from behind the cab on the driver's side. I'd still like to see some pictures to get ideas if anyone has any. Thanks!

Re: 69 Dump PTO controls mounting??
The floor is simplest with the least cable.that`s why they are there.I have seen under dash, too.I assume you don`t need a picture of my floor mount.
Don`t sweat the wrong forum thing. It happens. We try to keep things straight and only make comment so you`re aware.Alot of changes since`03,eh?
