turbo 400 dilema

Its been a while since I worked on my truck or posted anything on this forum.
I blew the engine up on the freeway one day. I guess there was a overlooked rod that quit.

Well now I got a 70 c20 with a GM crate motor and a T400. The engine is set up for the cable down shift and so is the carb. It seems right to swap that trans into it with the engine.

The truck the engine is going into has the solenoid downshift T400 that has been rebuilt with a shift kit.

I don't know the difference which is better. The cable operated one looks like it has more parts to it and looks bigger and the solenoid operated one looks simpler.

And advice?

I don't think you have any choice; the T400 is solenoid operated (not cable) so you'll have to go with the solenoid.

I'm not aware of any T400's that are cable kickdown operated.

Re: turbo 400 dilema

Your right and I just realized something,. The tranny I pulled out is not even a 400 its a 350. The 350 is a cable kick down the 400 is solenoid. oops,

So I will just use what I have in the truck which is the 400.
