Fender Emblems

Does anyone have an easy way to remove and install the fender emblems without pulling the interfender and/or the fender?

Thumbs up

Not very orthadoxed but here's what I did. 2" steel dry wall putty spatula slide it behind the emblem till you feel the stud and give it a sharp tap with a hammer. Then it will fall to the ground.

If you want to reuse the emblems you're gota pull the inner fender and even then it's a test of patiance to do it, but it can be done. If you are going to buy new emblems do what NSANE68!!! suggested then when you put the new ones on, they make some clips that go in the holes that you can just push the emblems into that work pretty good. Any bodyshop supply place should have them.

Wink

Or you can grind off the post or what's left of it , then put them back on with 3M double sided emblem tape. That's all they use anymore. You don't see any modern day vehicles with the annoying post and quick nuts. Not side badges anyway. Maybe in the grills.

Yeh, and they don't use real metal either! Everything is plastic today. Garbage!

I think what he means by recessed is when you look at the back of the emblem, there is only a thin outline of the letters C20 so not much surface area for the 3M tape to adhere to. If you were to use 3M tape, I would think you would want to fill the recessed area with tape to build up the surface flush with the outline of the letters.

OK, lets look at it from another angle. I will want to get my emblems ON the fenders with the fenders still on the truck (after its painted). No, I'm not pulling the fenders off again, they are aligned nicely. I'll figure it out when the time comes.

See which one gets filled first.

I ground off the posts and filled the emblems with epoxy, then used 3M double backed tape. Use the dark gray colored tape- it's less noticeable than the white. It holds good, too, because when I tried to move my "8350" emblem 3 years later, when I found out I had it in the wrong spot, it was really hard to get off.

Thanks everybody for the input. I have now got the emblems off and took the truck to the paint shop today. I plan to reuse the same emblems, so now I will pull the interfenders and try to put the nuts back on without messing up the paint.

There are special clips available to use instead of putting the nuts back on. I don't know if they have a special name or not but they slip into the holes and then you just push the emblem back on.

Available at most auto paint/body supply stores.

yeah but see he needs ot get them off first and thats the problem he faces, not esy thing to do with fenders on truck,

i have seen quite a few emblems that eben removed and were reinstaleld with double side tpe by filling in recessed area with the tape and triming around to fit inside and then another layer of thinner tape on top of that trimmed to outline of emblem shape, works fine dont evne know its held on not by the studs and nuts til you go to remove them. i would just tape em, unless trucxk is absolute 100 point show award winning truck.

good luck
