th 350 neutral safety switch part number needed
i need the GM part number for the neutral switch on the side of a th 350 in a 1972 pickup. i hope there still available from GM. my backup lights wont work and the fuse & bulbs are good. any help appreciated.

Switch for both are on steering column under dash not on trans.

Are they hooked up? If they are , remove the backup plug off switch(green wires) and jump across the plug with a jumper wire. Turn on switch and lights should come on. If the do try adjusting the switch. (will your truck start in park and netural only?)

Truck Starts In Nettral And Park Only. I Jumped The Green Wires, Turnned Switch On And Bingo They Worked. So Switch Is Worn Or Bad Right ? Thanks A Bunch For You Help......

It may just be out of adjustment if you are using the stock 3-speed tranny and column.
Have you tried adjusting the switch around the column? There is a fine line where all three things mesh. The adjusting procedure goes like this: Have an assistant stand in back of the truck. Chock the wheels, or use the parking brake if it is good. Place shifter in reverse and turn the switch to on. Slide the switch back and forth untill the back up lights are on. Test it in park and neutral... it should be good. DLB |

called advance auto and they had switch for 12.99 ( sorenson brand ) then i called orileys and they had it also only in borg warner so i bought it thinking borg is better. they price matched advance auto. 12.99 so i,am just gonna swap it out to be done with it. its obsoliete from chevy come to find out. but chevy does have the repop ones for 80.00. thanks all you guys for your help.
