Re: ls radiator swap question

I am midway through an LS1 swap and recently purchased one. I won't be setting it in place for another 3-4 weeks, but the workmanship is great. I could not get a phone number to speak with the dude that sells them, but he would always respond by email quickly. It came with a relay kit for the fans and If you ask, he will locate the nozzles for the LS motors so you won't have to run hose accross the top.

I was just about to say that. True LS conversion radiators will have the neck on the other side. Not, that running your hose across the top is a big deal, but it makes for a cleaner look.

Re: ls radiator swap question

I bought one a onth ago and just started my truck for the first time today. My swap is just a 4.8L Truck "LS1". It cools so well, I couldn't get the idling engine hot enough to kick on the fans (215 F is what they are set at in my ECM) and it was a 90 degree humid day here in southern Illinois. The factory mount will work if you have the "heavy duty, or big block" radiator other wise you can cut, lengthen and weld the standard mounts back together like I did. I went with the opposite side outlets. That way, if I ever had a problem I can just go to the parts store and ask for radiator hoses for a 2002 Silverado (what the 4.8 came out of). I am really happy with the product, shipped fast and fits and works well. Also it gives you a place to connect the pesky steam tube from the heads and throttle body.

Re: ls radiator swap question

You dont have to run the hose from the block to the throttle body/ then to the radiator. Block it off at that cross tube on the block. The only reason that line is there is for cold starts (like -20) It makes the air warmer when its cold out so it will run better. Wich if your driving it only in the summer that means your air intake temp will be higher wich= less HP and fuel economy.

Re: ls radiator swap question

Your "Truck" 4.8 isn't an LS1 and if you're asking people about parts for an LS1 (Corvette or F-body motors) youy'll not onlky get bad info, you'll get wrong parts.

The LS series "Truck" motors 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 use the same radiators dimensions and inlet outlet locations as the typical 3 or 4 row radiator you find. Eveeryone would love to sell you a cross-flow (Corvette LS1, LS2) because they normally start at &600.00 and go up. An actual cross-flow in a truck, with a truck motor like an LM7, LQ9, etc. would be a spendy "Luxury".

The Truck LS motors have a stock OEM radiator hose (cheap) that runs up and over the fan shroud & radiator top to the drivers side outlet. the other inlet hose goes right down to the lower connection on the radiator, simple. Also mechanical Fans out perform (Cooling wise) electrics every-time except they do cost a little engine HP when they run.

Bottom line you can run your Truck LSX with your Truck radiator if you want to save money.

Re: ls radiator swap question

US Radiator will build you one with the inlet and outlet on the same side, FYI. Makes running your hoses a LOT easier.

Re: ls radiator swap question

I am going to swap a CPSLC94L65E 'connect and cruize' in my 70 c10. It has LC9 which I heard is a truck engine.

Does it have the 'old' size water connections that Lees68GMC mentioned?

Thanks
