Backspacing Question...

Hi all,

I have a 72' shortbed with a 3.5" front 5" rear drop. I want to purchase a set of 17x9.5" wheels (all around) What backspacing should I be looking for? I am thinking of tire sizes in the 265/55-17 range.

Thanks for any input,

-Fred

4.5 or 5" b/s usually does the trick.

I am not sure a 9-1/2" wide rim will work on the front, especially with a 3-1/2" drop. I have a 4" drop on my '72. I have an 8" rim with a 5" backspace. I started with a 4" backspace it the tire rubbed. Remember, a 9-1/2" rim is actually 10-1/2" wide.
