Side view mirrors swap?

I have a 78 K20 with the junk mirrors on it. And I was wanting to get the nice mirrors that they put on the older model trucks, both my 85 and 86 had them. I believe they are called the dumbo mirrors or something. Will it be possible for me to mount the new mirrors right onto my door? Or did the door change on these so I wont be able to mount them? Thanks for any help available...Mike

you used to be able to buy small push in plugs and you can paint them the color of your truck, other than body work thats about it.

ive done this mod on all my trucks if ya dont have those push in things just use a small bolt lock washer and nut. The one thing tho is you want to make sure you find those little supports that go thought the lower bolt hole and then mounts to the inner door skin it saves alot of mirror vibration

Mike,

PM your address. Let me check, but I think I have a spare set of the brackets, I need to check to see if my spare doors have them.
