She's Out!

finally pulled my piece out of the garage today. my concerns of not fitting out the door proved true, it "didn't" fit. i put the door all the way up, and the handle on the inside of the door scraped about 2' of the roof, then the overhang over the door rubbed the full length of the roof. ah well, now its time to get it out of the way and get the 95 Grand Am in the garage.

before and after pics...

Looks like you have gotten pretty far on your truck Jeremy, wish you had a better close up pic of the entire beast.

Keep up the good work on it, it looks like you are better than halfway done.

suspension is done, save for bracing up the front spring hanger. looking back i wish i would've gone with a 81-87 frame, and they're squared off at the front, where the 73-80 is rounded. i think it would've made mounting the hanger a little easier. feeling a little sick today, or i would've gone out and taken some better pics. next on the agenda for the truck is an engine, crank kit and a carbed intake for the Vortec 5.7 and i should be good to go. mounting a Blazer tank in the bed, so i'll have to figure out how to mount it, and rig a filler for it. crossover steering, front driveshaft and wheels/tires and i should be good to go.

its solid, and not a show truck, so no point in painting it. i'm not sure a body paint job is even worth the time.

I gotcha, just giving you a hard time. Nothing wrong with an ugly playtoy.

Hey Jeremy, you should have let the air out of the tires to get it out with clearance! Or did you do that and I just missed it? Looks good man, keep us updated on the progress!

they're "low" but didnt want to go too low, because i had to drag it out by myself. wrapped a strap around the back of the frame then around me. didnt use the other truck for 2 reasons: 1. if there was any resistance, i wanted to know about it rather than taking the garage door down. by the time i would've felt it, it would've been too late. and 2. the Grand Ams are in the way, they are the reason it even came out of the garage.

here we go...

stock 52" rear springs, both front and rear. moved the front hanger forward 3", moved the front shackle mount forward, and made my own 3.25" longer shackles for the front. the rear is pretty standard with stock springs and shackles and an Echobit shackle flip. the stock rear hanger and flip kit may be replaced with a stock 2wd rear spring front hanger if the lift isnt even when i get the engine/trans/case and front clip on it.
