anybody put an anchor in their garage (cement) floor? I have a Jimmy in my driveway I am going to pull the motor out of, and would like to pull it closer to my garage, if not all the way in with a come along (hand winch). I am thinking of drilling a hole in the floor, and installing a threaded shaft in there (I am thinking of a hex shape for some reason) and cementing it in with hydraulic cement. I plan on installing a bolt to keep it clean and non-intrusive when not in use, and maybe put an eye-bolt in to anchor my come along to when I need it. Any thoughts? Would this likely cause leakage or water problems with my garage floor? There is a good amount of gravel below the garage floor, as it is a garage under house, just built. Thanks very much for any help you guys can provide, especially if you have done it yourself, or thought of something else. A couple of people strongly advised that I don't attach a come along to a lolli-column... that could have been bad.

I would like to, have a 454 3/4 ton suburban that would do just fine, but no room at all. I have a garage under my house, with the driveway running up to the side of the house straight on, then past the house. I can't even turn the suburban around without anything in front of the garage. I plan to build a barn behind the house someday, so I ran the driveway (gravel) about 100 feet beyond the back of my house. The lot is long but skinny. Once I get four decent wheels and tires on it, maybe I can push it by hand or something. I'd prefer not to demolish my new house for a used motor...

I did the same thing, made a stand to put a wench on and put anchors in the floor.

Never had to wait on help or strain myself again.

These worked pretty well for me. I wet set mine but I think you can install them in cured concrete. You just bore a hole and drop them in

hi guys, thanks for the replies. What did you use Blue Beard? I am not sure how big to go, or what is available. Edog1, that looks like a good solution. Did you use just one? How big are they? Do you think I could drill a hole and use hydraulic cement like the guy at Home Depot recommended? Thanks very much!

I made a stand for the hand winch (boat Trailer type), with 1/4 inch plate on the bottom.

With a hammer drill, put 4 drop in anchors in the floor.

With the 4 bolts they didn't need to be long because of the stand I built.

If you'd like a pic of it let me know. Don't have much use for it now with the new shop but still have it around.

Hi Blue Beard, thanks for the reply. If you have a picture, I would love to see it. I asked another guy here at work, who said if the lally columns are in the cement, I could use one of those if I attached very close to the floor. As long as the tires have air and it's rolling free... what do you think? My good neighbor just left me a good tire and wheel to borrow since the Jimmy's missing one... Lots of good parts on this truck. New radiator, Warn hubs, etc. Thank you!!
