Help identifying steering column

Can anyone confirm what year this automatic column is out of?

I think is is from a 66 chevy truck that may have had a power glide transmission?

Re: Help identifying steering column

I can't confirm the year - year range is probably more accurate question to ask.

I do know it's one of those problematic Powerglide columns that everyone is junking.... I however can TRY and get some more use out of it if you're smart and just get rid of it!

Looks correct for the powerglide...cant say as for year, but the wheel is 60-66. Some of the custom trim steering wheel guys can narrow down the year by the horn cap

It does look like a 66 wheel. As far as factory powerglide columns go i had a 64 in the 70's and a 65 in the 80's and they worked great.my 62 that i sold recently had one and it worked excellent.i think if it's not worn go ahead and use it.there's nothing like original equipment.

Heh..... ya missed my sarcasm devil Kent. Powerglides are great transmissions... If I can find all the parts to do an automatic swap before I find all the 3 spd overdrive parts and wiring, that's the way I'm going. I was only tongue-in-cheek tellin' him to give up the auto column and deluxe wheel! lol

.....unless he really, really wants to...

Re: Help identifying steering column

Thanks for confirming what I have. I am back to being able to work on my project after it sat for 15 years and have just joined this awesome forum.

I actually had gathered all of the manual column shift items including the original shift levers that hook between the column and tranny.

This was on a parts truck and I knew it might be a special item. Now I am changing to a Powerglide or TH350.

Anyone want to buy a brand new clutch, pressure plate and shift linkage......
