rear axle conversion
I got an axle out of a 1994 chevrolet 1500 truck. The axle has the same measurements to the backplate. I'm just trying to figure out if the axle from the 94 will fit into my 1966. As I'm doing the swap I will be installing my rear air ride setup. Has anyone used an axle out of a mid 90's truck into their half ton truck?

i used one from a 78 c10 in my 63, its 1.5 inches wider overall, some have used mid 90s impala and even the f&@d 8.8 rear axle, if you have access to a torch and welder it should work. and welcome to the forum from a fellow BAMMER.

Measuring the backing plates is not the correct way to measure a differential. You need to measure the WMS to WMS (wheel mounting surface). The '60 to early '70 C10 differentials measure 62". The '88-'98 C1500 differentials measure 64-3/4". That's way too wide IMO, unless you run the deep backspacing wheels that came on the '88 and up trucks.
