suggestions or tips when considering IFS?

Hey fellas, I have a 1949 Chevy 3100 completely original stock right now. My plans are To Bag this truck to the ground and slap a LS motor in it! I have been looking at numerous IFS kits and airbag system's but can't figure out which would be the Best bang for the Buck$$?!! I also want to go with a four link rear on bags in the back.. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

Sick builds guys Sounds like Scott's ifs is the answer! I wast sure about the C notch in the back of the frame, I though I could just notch the bottom part of the frame instead building a square tubing c notch? Anyways I will defiantly be taking notes before I tackle this build! 1st I have to finish my 71 camaro

Buy a Quailty built frontend made in the USA.
Deal with company you can call and get people on the phone.
Buy a frontend that is built for your truck.

Re: suggestions or tips when considering IFS?

Buy the best setup that is Made in the US by a quality manufacture that your budget can afford. And the most complete package at the same time.

On the C notch thing. With your bare frame laying on the running board supports on the shop floor you need to measure from the floor to the bottom of the frame right above the spot where the axle goes under and then measure from the floor to the top of the axle sitting beside it with the wheels and tires (or same size) on it that you are going to run when the truck is done. Add an inch for clearance and you have how deep the notch should be. I've often pondered why guys feel they need notches that end up several inches above the axle with the frame laid out on the floor or ground.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
