Brightest red?

Any suggestions for bright bright red paint colors? Years ago I did a Porsche Guards Red minus a few parts of the black, but I don't remember the exact formula and no longer have access to a mixing setup...

I'm looking for a verrrrrry bright red, just at the edge where some of you might say "that's too orange" but not so much that it really IS orange. One color I happen to like is the red on the Hot Wheels truck (picture below stolen from Gee_Emm).

Paint codes and/or year/make/model info on a particular car would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kenneth

Kenneth, I am looking for the same color. GM's Torch Red or Dodge Viper Red are my top two at the moment. I spoke with my body shop guy and he told me about a red that Chrysler uses on the 300M that is bright red with a red metal flake in the paint. He said it is the brightest red he has ever seen. I am going to check that color out. If I can get a sample I will let you know.

This is one of those no going back decisions if you don't like it. Good luck

This is the 93 Food Mustang red (code EY) ?? I think we touched on this on another thread.

It looks like a real candidate.

Have you got a year and make on the Torch Red? Or a color code?

Thanks to all,

I don't have paint codes for torch red but here are a couple trucks in that color. Looks great in the sun and the shade.

I think this one is probably it! I especially like the way it integrates the grille area... my grille and bumper, etc., will also be body color. Thanks!

Also, you might want to check out 2001 Food Performance Red (code ES), which is verrrrry similar to the EY on flyin99's truck.

Remember fellas, DON'T TRUST YOUR SCREEN!!! Especially with red. Your monitor/video card is most likely wrong. This is not the way to pick a color. Find a car or paint chip. I just went through this with engine paint to match my powder coating. You must have a paint code or an example. By the way, I like the Viper red.

I e-mailed the owner of the truck. Here is what he gave me.

1990 GM Torch Red Dupont Chroma 1 base clear.

It looks like it was put on by someone who did a lot of rubbing between coats. Beautiful! Good Luck. Everytime I look at that picture I want to go with that color.

Understood... earlier this morning I spent an hour culling through the Dupont color books at my local body shop supply store. THAT is what I'm working from, but it helps to get a ballpark from photos before digging through the books.

Actually, probably not any rubbing at all between coats. Chroma is a catylized acrylic enamel.

Have a look at 85 Toyota 3E5 Super Red. I've had a couple of cars in base/clear that looked incredible. It's one of the nicest red's I've seen.

OK, so here's a synopsis of the various reds and paint codes so far...
  • 2001 (or 2002) Ford Performance Red ES
  • 1993 Ford Performance Red EY
  • 2001 (or 1990) GM Torch Red 70 (or 71)
  • 1985 Toyota Super Red II 3E5 (they also have plain "Red" 3E6)
  • 1998 Dodge Viper Red PRM/LRM

So many colors, so little time.

Cool Paint

1986 I-ROC Red is one of the brightest reds chevy ever did I think.
This is the color of my truck and it was painted in 1989. Here is a pic of it in 2002. It still holds its color good for setting out side all the time in the weather.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
