Bottom Radiator Hose Swelling

Just got my 88 Burban about a week ago. Changed alternator and thermostat to start. I know I need to change my spark plug and wires and all that wonderfulness. My issue is that my bottom radiator hose is swelling and before I change it I want to find what the issue is. The top hose is fine. Also, the vehicle drives rough. It doesn't have the pick up it should. It was shifting fine but now it is off. Another thing is that this morning I couldn't get it to move at all. Not forward not backward...nothing. I am not the smartest person in the world or the dumbest. I like to learn new things and need help. I like to learn about my vehicles and fix what I can. Always been good at taking things apart and putting them back together so this is my project...for me and for me to teach my son.
