Stock 5.3L engine into 67C10, SE shorty headers?

Has any one had experience with an LS swap, using speed engineering header of the shorty kind? I have a stock 5.3L donor engine (LS type) from a 03 Tahoe and the $175 budget for my 67 10 pickup is the vehicle getting the engine. There was a few post using long tube in a 67-72 LS swap, but I am using a 700r4 transmission that I bench built and with long tube, many report they have to cut of the "Ears" a little of the tranny and some fitment issue on the driver side frame. I have carefully planning and researching this swap while watching my budget. It has been a unanimous thumbs up for Doug Thorley headers, but I have a house payment. Any suggestions will help because early retirement due to disability after years as an ASE Master, doesn't pay well. Cast iron OEM exhaust manifolds are mentioned using a Camero manifold on the passengers side or a pair. Don't know. The earth should thaw in a few months, so I have some time. Thanks for any input.

Those looks soooo sweet. Unfortunately, I am using a 5.3L LS based engine from an 03 Tahoe donor into a 67 C10.

Will you adopt me...I can hold the flash light?

From what I've read the Chevy Trailblazer SS manifolds and Camaro stock manifolds will work without any modifications. I have a 04 Suburban 5.3 in my 67 Suburban and my mechanic used the stock truck manifolds but he did have to modify them slightly. I don't have the truck back or I would take pics for you. As soon as I get it back I'll take a few pics for you.

Thanks nastety92. I will check to see if the 04 Suburban 5.3 manifolds are different from the 03 Tahoe. If I know GM, they are probably the same. I check everywhere for info to save money as "I" am the mechanic and have a small budget. YouTube videos have had fitment issue as well with truck manifolds. They end up trimming the frame a little.

I have Trailblazer SS manifolds on my 5.3 swap. They fit perfect with no frame cutting.

Trailblazer SS and the variants like Envoys with 5.3's and even the Isuzu that I cant remember the name of at the moment will all work. What's going to be hard for you is hooking that TV cable for a 700r4 to the DBW (Drive By Wire) throttle body. Not sure if you've taken that in to account yet. Also, there is an LS swap subforum in the engine part of this forum that has a lot of info. You can also take a look at my builds which are linked in my sig.

For a stock engine on a budget now, stock cast iron manifold are sold by Hooker and come close to shorty headers. The SSR, Ascender, H3 , Envoy, Rainier and others share an OEM manifold. It allows for choosing the route around the transmission and ground clearance. I just found the Speed Engineering SS shorty header affordable while looking nice for an LS Swap to make a 51 year old classic Bowtie pickup interesting. I just wish I had my wallet from the Dealership days. The flat rate was $6 an hour in a town that was 30 miles from the city when I started wrenching. Many moons ago.
The DBW does present a problem for an throttle valve or detent cable. I approach is a bracket at the pedal. Using proper geometry, the little movement found on DBW throttle a challenge but I will using a simple extended lever that pivots at the throttles shaft. I will provide photos when I get there as I plan to have something anyone could do while having a friendly cable installing from the engine side. I fabricated a cable operated HVAC distribution box in two pieces for under-dash A/C. The heater core is held in place with two screws and a single panel on the engine side. I can remove the heater core in 3 minutes. Blower box, evaporator inside, going thru heater core and vacuum control hot coolant supply.
This not a toy or race car, just the last daily driver I will own. Thanks to all who responded, but will still take info with photos. Blessings to all who get their hands dirty...and like it, while they know why!
