Re: Suggestions on Dash

If you have a can of WD40 around try this before buying anything. Work in small sections, spray some WD40 on, let it soak in a little and use a rag and rub, keep spraying as you go along, it might break it down enough to where it will come off.

Re: Suggestions on Dash

Your dash pad will cover it up, right?

3M makes an adhesive and woodgrain remover. It comes in a quart can. I'm sure there's some acetone in the mixture, so be sure you have plenty of ventilation. Also, wear some gloves that will protect your hands.

When you put your new dash pad on it, it should be covered up.

+1 for Goo Gone. Used it for decals on the side of dump trucks and tractor trailers. No residue and pretty cheap.

Good stuff that ^, and also Spit fire, this is primarily a industrial stain and spot remover but also works great on hard to remove sticky crap, spray>soak for a minute>wipe away. you can find it in a Janitorial supplies store. And to add, it has never ruined anything I have used it on to include removing 100mph tape residue from Army gear...

WD40 Does work great, I agree with this the only problem with WD40 is if you plan on Painting any surface after using WD40 you might want to clean with something else that will wear off the WD40 and allow paint to stick.

Contractors Solv-It is what we use here at work. You can usually get it at hardware stores. Smells like oranges and works great. Spray it on, let it sit, wipe it off

Re: Suggestions on Dash

NEVER use WD-40 anywhere you intend to paint. Just one hidden drop will ruin the paint job. My painter won't even let one can be anywhere in the shop.

Re: Suggestions on Dash

Is is getting repainted? If so sand it off or wipe it with laquer thinner. That should do the trick.

Re: Suggestions on Dash

The above suggestions will probably work.I would suggest trying them first and if they don't you can clean it well with a fine steel wool and then use rubbing compound and wax to bring on the shine.
