1954 Radio Delete Plate

Can anyone tell me if there's a difference between a 54 GMC radio delete plate and earlier years? And will a Chevy plate fit or does it have to be GMC only? Thanks, Rick

Re: 1954 Radio Delete Plate

54 is different than earlier years. The 54 Chevy plate had a bow tie on it and the GMC was smooth.

Looks like it might be easier to find a radio than the right delete plate. Does anybody have a picture of one? Thanks for the replies!, Rick

Re: 1954 Radio Delete Plate

Article in local paper about the library having a public access 3d printer. Also has the software to digitize photos into readable code for the machine, takes 12 HR photos. Obviously if you have one you don't need to make a copy, but sounds like an opportunity, like the guy that is doing the GMC turn signal lenses.

Re: 1954 Radio Delete Plate

Great idea. Things that were hard to find or reproduce will be a lot easier with 3D printers.

There was an entire car body that was built with a 3D printer on television a few days ago. Looked pretty good from a ways back. Up close though it kinda looked like black spaghetti piled up. They did it quite quickly. The business end of this particular 3D machine was sorta like a large automated caulking gun.

Don't see the blanks for sale at truck and car, only the radios at $499. Have seen the blank plates compared before but never seen them for sale.

Thanks Race,it,

These guys have a lot of them but nothing for 54 GMC or Chevy. I'm starting to realize that searching for 54 GMC parts is a little harder than earlier or later years. Just makes it even more fun.

Re: 1954 Radio Delete Plate

It didn't come with my pick up. I got it off ebay. Then I realized the previous owner cut a big hole in the dash for a modern day radio.

Thanks for the photos I think it's a tf blank plate as I think that the raised edge is only the tf ones. There are loads of them around

Re: 1954 Radio Delete Plate

I ran across this today. I had a '54 about 18 years ago an I guess this is the last piece of it. I don't know about any special clips I had just made a T nut to attach it. No, I don't need it and yes I will part with it. Here's the catch: I need a master cylinder push rod for a 2003 Silverado. It's the rod from the booster to the master cylinder. Yea I misplaced mine. Should be easy to find at any junk yard or dealer. Wanna swap?
Rob
