Vintage Cruise Control on the '64
I'm helping a friend on his '64 C10. It's a project we have been working on for a while.
I have a lot of experience with the GM cruise control systems used from '67 up through the early '80s, so we decided to install one on the '64. It's just in the mock up stage but I thought I'd show a picture of it as it is now. Still have to mount switches under the dash, add grommet at firewall and plumb vacuum feed to rear of carb. I used to add this system to other GM vehicles and still have a large inventory of components. Hope someone can rotate the image. |

The installation is pretty easy. The biggest problem I had was routing the speedo cable. I notched the upper support bracket for the brake pedal so the cable would have a better angle attaching to the speedometer cluster.
Do a search for Buick cruise control. There is a really good thread that explains the system and how to troubleshoot. When you get ready, let me know. I'll help you and tell you what vehicles have the necessary components. |

Many years ago I installed a GM (Pontiac) cruise control on my 79 CJ7. Still working today. I still have a few parts left snd hope to put one on my 65 C10 some day.

Hi Rocknrod, I am guessing the mid 70's for the year. This unit was a factory option on most GM models. The one you have pictured is I believe from a later model.
