Does anybody have roof lights ? Maybe photos of trucks that do !?! Trying to deside what I want to do about mine, any input helps, thanks guys.

If it is a 67-68 these are what you need. Teardrop style they are still for sale in Jc Whitney catalog. Edit...

I have a love/hate thing with mine, wish they were not there most of the time, but find them to be nice at night when pulling trailers or my boat. Maybe it's just me, but people on the highways at night seem to be better drivers when they think there is something coming their way with extra lights on it. And by the way, that is Yukon Jack setting shotgun, we were leaving a local car show when this was taken.

I'm putting those lights on my truck too, the only thing I don't like about it is having to route the wires.

This might give you a little prespective on how they look..I think they look great on one tons...I replaced mine and got them from NAPA.............Chevy's Rock...........

Great replies guys thanks; LB that's one sharp truck and that's a cool night time photo and the very look I want. Silverado I like the Chrome but the only concern I have with those are they sometimes leak, maybe we just always had cracked lenses on the old ranch truck. I do like the OEM look but maybe there is an aftermarket alternative that's better. What ever I choose I want it to look good, work right, and be replaceable, because I use my trucks and don't baby them. Thanks for the photos !!!

I have the ones with the chrome tails like pictured above. I am changeing the cab and they are not going on the new cab. (Grandpa put those things on there). I will be parting ways with them if you are interested. I don't have a picture on my computer (it crashed last week), but if you want to see, let me know.

I kinda like the older F*rd cab lights. they arent too big or too small and they have a good look to them. Heck, if i didn't care about the lighting, i'd get some F*rd cab light lenses and glue them to the roof! LOL It would be dumb because they would be useless at night, but it would look good during the day.

Has anyone ever tried converting a non-lights cab roof to a lighted one using the factory metal?

If you cut out the factory roof section can you somehow weld it in/on a non-lighted cab or should one just keep looking for one being parted out?

I`ve installed factory clearance lights on a`71 I had in the same locations as the factory equipped trucks.They fit and looked just fine.I don`t know why GM went to the hassle and expense to make a special roof panel.It`s makes them more special now.I bought a cab this spring just because it was a cab-light,a/c,and hi-hump(and original paint & solid).

Never had a problem out of them and I know they have been on there a looooong time. And you can get replacement lenses at most truck stops, parts places, etc....in amber, red, blue, or clear?!?!

Mine (actually grandpa's at the time) was never equipped with them from the factory, so he had them installed later. Wires were easy to install with one small hole in the very front-upper-left-corner of the cab by the windshield. Might not even need that hole if the windshield had been out when we did it.

When I was in Helena Montana a couple of weeks ago scouting out a junk yard there were two factory cabs with the clearence light option. One roof was in good shape, the other was dented.

the cab is different. underneath each lense the cab has a bump.

I'd like to add factory cab lights to my K20 primarily for safety. We drive 25 miles of one of Colorado's most dangerous sections of highway, US Hwy 287 between Fort Collins & Laramie, WY, gettin' to our home. The cab lights allow oncoming cars to see the top of the truck so they don't pass when they shouldn't. We've had to take to the ditch more than once when this happens, usually in our '02 Dodge 2500. Haven't had it happen since we added cab lights to it. There are long stretches where you can pass, but there are also dips in the highway where oncoming cars can't see your headlights. Everyone who lives up here runs with headlights on when drivin' this road.

What's the best way to locate the cab lights to match the factory locations? I've never had access to a cab lighted truck so I could make a template with measurements & references. If I did, I'd turn it into a image file & post it for public access.
