Regulators SUCK!

I am having the da#ndest time trying to get my passenger regulator in. I just proceeded in scratching the living $hit out of my freshly tinted window and am soooooooo incredibly frustrated right now. I can't get thisthing in!

I've tried this:http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=157539
and this:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=83475
and neither have been helpful. Can anyone nearby help me with this thing?!?

Relax, have a home brew! Come back to it in a few after you've cooled down.

Re: Regulators SUCK!

I can appreciate your frustration, I went through that on the drivers side reg for my 69 not too long ago, danged if I can't remember exactly how I did it though! There is a write-upon that in here somewhere, it was helpful,( but only to a point for me), go easy on it, those regs won't take too much abuse. Maybe someone on here will come up with a definitive how-to for that job. Best of luck, Lew

Re: Regulators SUCK!

I talked to 70rs/ss over the phone and he gave me some suggestions, but I got the window stuck and spent an hour more of my time on this thing. I seriously feel like driving this off a cliff...................or selling this b!%h!
I'm going to take it to where I bought the reg's and see if they'll put them in for me. Trouble is, now I've got to re tint my window and I'm wondering if I scratched the living crap outta the window or just the tint. I won't know until I peel it off.

It's funny you mention that because just yesterday afternoon, before I started this project, I was watching Stacy David's Gearz and they were driving around in what looked like an old Ford roadster all slammed. I've never really seen one in person and from where the camera was mounted, it looked like it could be a VERY fun ride. I've never had any desire for one until I saw that.

Hmmmmm, maybe I could get a good trade for a rat-rod roadster.......

Re: Regulators SUCK!

Put the regulator in the door. Make sure it's facing the correct direction.

Put the window in (with the vent window OUT of the door completely.)
*I taped up all the door edges to prevent scratches.
*If you're concerned about the tint, you can tape up the whole window.

This takes some fenagleing. Inside the door, line up the rollers inside the window channel, there are slots in the window channel. Then (while not letting the rollers fall out) lift up the window/regulator assembly until you can put the other roller into the channel that's welded to the door. The bolt holes should now be close to lining up. Keep a couple of the screws and a screwdriver close by!

Put a couple screws in.

Push the window into the rear channel, I roll it up a hair and put tape on the glass to the door.

Install the vent window.

Line everything up, put in bottom vent window screws, then adjust and tighten all regulator screws

Thanks 67ChevyRedneck, I won't be able to do anything with it today but will give this a try tomorrow. It's a good thing I'm a patient man. Seriously.

Re: Regulators SUCK!

I know your pain Brad. I taped up everything and still wound up with scratches. Probably the most frustrating thing I've ever had to deal with on the truck.

Re: Regulators SUCK!

Ok guys, I feel like a complete dummy.

After using 67Chevyredneck's method, I got it really close but realized I needed to move the rear track towards the end of the door in order for everything to fit together properly. (Drum roll please) Upon closer inspection, I noticed the 2 screws down on the bottom and quickly found the 3rd around the end, up top and realized my mistake. I simply needed to loosen these bolts, move the track back about an 1", slip the window in and tighten everything back up. Ah jeeeeeeez! Except for re-tinting my window, I had it back together within minutes.

As a result of my air-headedness, I am hereby voluntarily suspending my amatuer mechanics license for 2 days beginning at midnight tonight! I won't be working on my truck as a result and my truck will probably be greatful.
I still have to do the other side, but I know it'll go much smoother.

Re: Regulators SUCK!

^MAN, MY BAD! I forgot to mention that as well

I usually leave the top screw in, remove the bottom two, and slide it away.

Glad you dot it done!
