Got a couple questions about buying a used Cheyenne.

Hey, thanks for stopping by, went and looked at a supposedly all original C10 Cheyenne and there were a few things that stood out, maybe not too bad. He says 67k on original motor, truck sounded fine, stopped good, drove straight all that, but a few things put me off. There was rust on the bottom, but nothing crazy. Spotty dots of rust on a lot of the bottom and all that, and it didn’t feel like exhuast came out of the pipe. Didn’t see any smoke but just wanted to be sure. Motor looked rusty but decent. Under the hood something dripped onto the concrete, but the guy said it was condensation from the AC but the AC needed a recharge of a few bolts tightened or something. The guy said he had it for a while, but didn’t specify exactly. If I remember more I’ll post in the replies, but if you have the time, let me know what you think, I just want a damn squarebody already
Thank you

Also, tags expired in 2016 and he hasn’t gotten new ones?

These trucks rust from the inside out.
Good luck!

Some pics of the truck would help.

Also more info. Engine, tranny, year. There are a lot of trucks that have had replacements of engines, etc. Hard to find a pristine truck unless it has been restored then $$$. If you want the truck, price is right for you, runs and drives to your satisfaction, then, it may be alright. I would be sure title is legite and current to the owner.

Re: Got a couple questions about buying a used Cheyenne.

They do tend to rust from the inside out. Check under the back cab corners, inside back of wheel wells, around the battery tray, back edge of bed. Open the doors and check around the inside of the cab where the weatherstrip runs. Check inside bottom of doors. Check under the floor mats for cab rust. Not a complete list.

AC condensate drips from the passenger side just in front of the cab.

Take the tag number to a tag agent/DMV or whatever your state has and see what mileage they show and for that matter, if the tags come back to a C10. Check on the cost of getting tags current. The state will likely want past years of money from someone. Depending on state privacy rules, they might not confirm ownership info.

If your state has emission checks, verify that the truck has all required equipment. Common for it to vanish.

Remember these are 30-40+ year old trucks. Rare to find one in really great condition without a really high price.
