Junk yard score!
Whodathunkit? While searching for a late model seat for my 68 (and perhaps a Camaro tach), I stumbled on to a pair of black bucket seats in a 67 GMC for $50! Yeah, they need to be re-covered, but it'll be worth it. Woo-hoo!

Are they the OE 67/68 buckets? Black was not an available interior color in 67 so if they are OE they've been recovered at some point. Got pics?

Okay, here's one of them. The other one is very, very similar. Trust me.

BTW, the back is metal and angled so that it fits up against the tank perfectly. I snagged the seatbelts, too.

I snagged some other pics of the truck while I was out in the cold. I don't think I've ever posted an engine or front-end shot before.
Here's the engine with the new K&N... Here's the reason why I'm wanting new seats... Here's the front-end of the truck...

Those are 69-72 Blazer utility buckets, or at least appear to be. What does the pass side seat bracket look like?
Still a good score for $50

What makes them "utility" anyway? All I know is that they bolted up nice and fit up against the gas tank like a glove.

They are another style of "bucket" seat that could be ordered. They do not have the contoured seat cushion the more popular version of the bucket seats were designed with. They are more like mini bench seats. I believe they are found in base model blazers, the ones ordered without back seats. Blazers could be ordered with 1 seat, 2 seats, or 2 fronts and a rear. The "utility" designation stems from the following definition:
"Designed for various often heavy-duty practical uses: a utility knife; a utility vehicle."
