New to me 6.5 TD
Just purchased this one owner, low mileage 1994 C1500 with the S code 6.5 TD. 4l80e transmission. All the bells & whistles available for the year. Can’t wait to see what kind of fuel mileage I can squeeze out of it. 3.42 gear ratio. Not many 5 lug diesels out there. I need to try to look up some production numbers.

Looks good Mike, and looking forward to what you're going to do with it. The cab corners look good too, which seems to be the first area to go.

Re: New to me 6.5 TD
That's a really nice one and a rare one. Not only a 1/2t diesel but a 2wd. I have seen very few and I was a GM diesel guy throughout the GMT400s and before. I was taking notice. trim wise, '94 is my favorite year

Re: New to me 6.5 TD
Very nice looking, and very seldon seen truck.
Check the harmonic balancer and front pulley for any deterioration. These pieces are the achilles heels of the 6.2/6.5 diesels. GM parts can still be picked up for less than $200 for the pair (balancer and pulley), as I just purchased a set a few months ago. Also check that the brace is on front of the starter. Re: New to me 6.5 TD
Took the topper off, and bought a new set of Michelins. It was missing the front valance, and that was bugging me to death. Got that taken care of too. The balancer looks fine, but the truck is approaching 100K, which from what I read is the recommended time to change it out. I meant to check the starter brace today while I had it jacked up to change the oil. That’s on the list of things to do. The PMD is also still in the factory location. I need to re-locate it soon.
