5.3l 4l60E Opportunity, need guidance.
I have the opportunity to buy a 5.3L /4l60E set up from a guy. It is said to come out of a 2007 Chevy half-ton 2wheel drive, with 97,000 miles. Wire harness has already been re-pined and computer reset up for non-smog. It has a GM performance oil pan to clear cross-members. He had it set up for a Camaro build but realized the truck intake was too high for his hood clearances. He mentioned that he has the brackets for accessories as well. He is asking $2500. Does this seem like a good price? What are some questions that I should ask him? It would be going in my 70 Chevy swb. Thanks for any advice or help!!!

If say price is fair
I'm on the hunt myself as we speak for something and everyone around me is very proud of their drop out engines I am actually leaning towards buying one ready to run stand alone for the same money shipped in as one not ready to run sourced locally. If it's what you want and it is truly ready to run meaning only hooking up 3 or 4 wires and it's what you want I personally would buy it. Mileage is good too. Maybe you could save some money wiring one your self but how much is your time worth? |

Figure $1500 for a good 100k mile motor and trans, plus $500-$1000 for harness and ecm work. It's fair. If iron block, maybe a little high. If aluminum block, certainly low....

Sounds like a good deal to me, engine alone ready to run will cost around that , trany another 1000 , these engines routinely get 2-300,000 miles if well maintained

If you trust him I would buy it. I got my 6.0 last year and I payed $2200 for the combo. It has some nice add ons already so your a head of the game. The oil pan and harness are done. Checkout the link below. Plenty of info.

Got it home. It came with new motor mounts as well.
