69/70 GMC LongHorn w/396 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi Gang...
I have a chance to purchase this truck up here in Canada.
It's a GMC LongHorn. Ordered in 1969 for 1970. It is numbers matching (all original) with original 396 big block and 3 speed M-44 tranny.
Can anyone give me some back ground on this truck?
Are they rare??
He's asking $1,200 can. (exhaust manifold is cracked and gas tank/lines need replacing).
I appreciated any info./help

$1200 sounds like a deal. If the body and drivetrain are in decent condition, buy it. They are somewhat rare. My dad has one he is selling for $7500 and someone said he will take it. His has a good body with wood floor and the big block 402 with turbo 400 tranny. All original except the paint. It also has power steering and brakes and factory a/c. The interior is original, but is all rotten and needs replacement badly.

Welcome To The Board From The Great White North! What part of Canada you in?

If it's a Canadian Truck I would think there may not have been many made. 1970 was a strike year I believe so production was down, and factor in GMC's typically ran 1/3 of the total Chevy production (1 GMC for 3 Chevy's). Being a Longhorn obiviously there's not as many of those made as their 1/2 and 3/4 ton longbox counterparts.

For example My Truck is a '69 K10 Fleetside Longbox (thru GM of Canada) I found out it to be 1 of 208 trucks made that year of the same model number. If you wanted to research it get the Vin# on the Driver's door pillar and give GM of Canada a call and say you would like info on this truck you would like to purchase they may be able call you back sooner with info because truck being of sale. If not the mailed out package they give you can take 4-8 weeks to get to you. They charge a fee (roughly $50 for this info). An option tho...

My bad. I didn't realize he stated $1200 can. in the beginning.

The rebuildable block alone would be worth that. Not to mention the other usable parts if you need you money back. Not much to lose in that deal, but would be nice to see pics!

I go to a work related golf tournament every June in Cambridge then a conference in Guelph the next day. It is always a lot of fun, mainly because the beverage cart on the course is paid for.

I think you are getting a deal if it's 1200 CDN now...I think he was asking 4500 CDN for it a few months back...I remember seeing it in the online autotrader.

If it was what I was looking for I'd buy it for that ($1200)...
