69,4x4 long bed, whats it worth?

Hi everybody, im a new guy here and ive always liked the67 to 72 body style and ive been looking for one for a while, and i know most of the members either own one or more of these trucks or youve been around them more than i have, so maybe someone can give me an idea of what this truck,s worth , i know i should have taken a pic ,but i forgot my camera, ill describe it as best as i can , its a 69 lwb 4x4 , the guy said it bought it from oklahoma 6 years ago as a 2 wheel drive and put it on a 72 4x4 frame so it has power steering ,power disc brakes , he replaced both rocker panels and lower door panels, the body work isnt show quality but its decent , the rest of the truck looks real straight , its got a new front bumper, and the grill looks pretty good other than a few dings, its got ,i think american racing aluminum wheels with 32s on it , new aluminum tool box and the truck was repainted last year, no runs or over spray that i could see ,this is not a show truck but from 20 feet it looks really good ,i think it would make a good daily driver, i forgot to mention its an automatic with a turbo 350 in it wich was rebuilt a couple years ago, ok heres the drawbacks, it has a 307 in it its not the original but it seems to run ok the 4 wheel drive dosnt work ,he said the front diferential locked up, so it will probably need a new front diferential im not sure, he said when it locked up the diferential was really hot but it drives ok in 2 wheel drive, the steering box leakes , it needs new brake lines ,and a new exhaust, thats about it , i looked under it and it looks pretty clean , no frame repairs that i could see or holes in the bed ,hes asking $ 3000 for it , what do you think, is it worth it? id apreciate any info you could give me......thanks ..waynes world..

I guess that I would be concerned about the transfer case. The truck sounds pretty good overall, but you will have to put a fair amount of work into it plus some major parts.

I don't know what the market in your area is, but I don't think that I would go over $2,500 for it.

Hey, I would jack up the front end, and pull the diff. cover.Have you and a couple of buddies rotate the axels by hand. While you looking at the diff. seeing if everthing is good. I'd also take the front driveshaft off. Lock it into 4hi, look under the truck to see if that pinion yoke is turning. You don't have to drive all fast just rock the truck back and forth a few feet. You then could tell if it's your front diff. or transfer case thats jacked up!!!!!!!If the diff. is bad and the transfer case I'd offer him a grand!!! Maybe 1500.The guys selling a non working 4x4.

Hope to help

Here's a comparision for you I was looking at a 70 3/4 4x4 that need some body work nothing major. everything worked, 6000 lb winch sold for 1900. The first guy that looked at it bought it. I called that evening. So for you, I'd say keep looking unless he's going to fix it first then maybe... 2000-2500.
