I like it shortbed crew cabs are very cool. Lifted or lowered you can't go wrong. I will be keeping my eyes on this one also.

Re: ojoe's crewcab shortbed build
To clarify, the black cab'd truck with the gold bed was a different truck than this one, right?
I have an '87 swb 2wd and an '85 swb 4x4. I would like to do a 4x4 swb crew. Just need the crew???

Re: ojoe's crewcab shortbed build
Some constructive criticism - what size are those bolts holding the two frames together? Look kinda small to me, I wouldn't trust anything smaller than what holds the rear springs in their hangers. Also if it was my truck I'd weld up the rear vertical edges of the 3/4-ton frame to the outside of the halfton frame, and also the front vertical edges of the halfton frame to the inside of the 3/4-ton frame, wouldn't rely on just the bolts to keep things from shifting in case of an accident.
Other than that I think it looks pretty darn good, only thing it needs is a stepper bed and it'll be just perfect

Re: ojoe's crewcab shortbed build
I think bolts are for alignment purposes. This makes is a fool proof method. I'm sure full welding will come next.

Re: ojoe's crewcab shortbed build
Did you notch the frame due to the fact that you are going lower, or is it nessary because of the axel flip? When I build my truck I want it at about the height that yours is now. I am figuring on just the axel flip and wondering if I'll have to notch the frame or not. It's not practical in the northeast where I live to go any lower with a truck that is a daily driver. The roads here SUCK!
