Who sells the best (for the price) trailing arms?

Found a pair at Classic Parts for 499.95, are there any other american-made trailing arms pairs that are that price or cheaper?

Post a WTB ad in our parts section.

Several of our board members will ship them to you.

TKorinek for one. I have bought killer used ones before. For like $135 a set i think.

He ships them FedEx.

Great condition.

Re: Who sells the best (for the price) trailing arms?

When my son needed some for his '70 Chevy with a mildly built 454 we found a set from a '67 3/4 ton that had very little rust.

I guess it really depends on what your budget will allow and what you are building the truck for.

We build our trucks more as daily drivers, I guess but do enter them in car/truck shows.

If your not building a one off show truck then go with stock. Cheap and good.

You know Ive never seen a set of rusted trailing arms out here. How do you guys ship these at a reasonable rate? Instead of sending extra sets to the scrapper, maybe next time I should offer em up for sale here on the board?

Re: Who sells the best (for the price) trailing arms?

If you go with the ebay NASCAR-style truck arms make sure you get stock length arms.

They are built in different lengths/configurations for the various setups at different tracks.

Re: Who sells the best (for the price) trailing arms?

My friend built a set for his truck using rectangular tubing(2 1/4 X 3 1/2?), He used the old ones for his template. They work very well and look great. I think he spent 50 dollars for the materials. He has a 454 W/ a Richmond 6 Spd. They have been in the truck for about 3 years and he is not easy on them at all. He is probably on his 3-4 set of tires. If you don't feel comfortable with doing it any welding/machine shop should be willing to do it for you.

Re: Who sells the best (for the price) trailing arms?

The problem w/most aftermarket or home-made arms that utilize tubing contruction is the natural 'twist' that the factory I-beam contruction allowed is gone. Many will also swap in urethane busings as they're an easy, relatively accessible upgrade. Combine the two & the binding that was present in the factory design is now much more pronounced.

The 'plus' is the arms should be stiffer (less deflection) from the tubular construction.

This is why I feel tubular truck arms need a joint @ the front mount. They'll offer less deflection w/the same or better articulation (w/o binding) vs. the factory.

the NACAR ones I bought have a hime joint at the front and also are 2 piece ( each side) this is where they would add stagger??...so now in the real world I can do a 4 wheel alignment on my truck...and as far as strength well the 472 and a set of PS tires havn't hurt them..how ever I'm waiting to break a U joint

Old discarded NASCAR arms are improved versions of the factory design as far as torsional rigidity & articulation. How are the mono-balls assembled? Are they rebuildable?

Re: Who sells the best (for the price) trailing arms?

Scoti is spot on in his comment about the NASCAR arms being improved designs of the original.

These are new NASCAR truck arms, notice the different lengths without a Heim joint. Notice also the rivets holding the two halves together ... identical to how GM did it over 40 years ago.

I personally took this pic a year or so ago in the fab shop of one of the current top 10 teams in the Sprint Cup series.
