Lets see yer cup holders!
Inspired by Kustombrad's Project "49 No Buck$" amazingly functional and cheap arm rest/cup holder mod.
Lets see what everyone else has come up with to hold their tasty beverages. I need a place to put my coffee, but I'm not sold on any of my ideas. So sound off! |

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Ugly but free and it took ten minutes to make one day after I got tired of my coffee tipping over. The leg at the back is because the cupholder tipped over with a full cup of coffee in it. The holder sits beside the floorshift (Hurst type in front of the seat) with the leg running across behind the shifter. Not fancy but one of a similar design could be built out of nicer wood and finished off to look pretty good.
The good thing is that if I need the leg room for someone in the middle it lifts out and goes in the back and done.

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Nothin fancy, just a plastic tray from Wally World, about 5 bucks, someplace to set my coffee cup and some tape and a few tools. Fits in between the bucket seats, good for now.

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
I'm going to have to put the photos of Orrie's setup in my idea file. I could make that work on my 71 real easy. It has a plastic one that slides all over the place now.

I like his idea also - thinking of using some old Penn 500 drag washers to keep it snug and smooth open and shut. Plenty of under dash space in the '51... |

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Those round ones like highsider showed work pretty well and can bail you out of situations too.

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
This one was originally intended to slide into an ashtray location, removed the flat piece, screwed it to the floor.
I've also used an old soup can with a large round magnet bolted to the bottom.

Nice fellas! There are some gems in here. Some just hilarious.
I'm really digging the swing out OrrieG idea. I just might have to go that route. |

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
So how do you from the upper "circles" of heavy wire or thin bar stock if you don't own a roller that'll do that? Any clever ideas? Smooth and even look excellent. Home done pounded with a hammer around a pipe will look like schit

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Mine are cinch rings from a tack shop. Got the big washers from local Tacoma Screw.

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
I have no idea what a "cinch ring" is....for that matter I don't know what a "tack shop" is either....do you mean for horses?
Not a lot of horses in suburban Los Angeles, but imagine there must be some...somewhere Thanks for the heads up.

Haven't you ever heard John Wayne tell the pilgrim "make sure you cinch that saddle down tight"?

As a Calif. General Contractor, I know what it is, and a little tongueincheek levity is better - but that being said - http://www.duckbrand.com/products/re...rade-duck-tape it's out there and they sellit... |
